#07 Sabbatical Birds

私たちが海を超えて違う国で過ごし、そして帰ってくる状態を、渡り鳥が海を超えて渡り、

そして帰ってくる様子に重ね合わせています。

プロジェクトでは、私たちそれぞれが暮らしている場所で出会った鳥を写真に撮りインスタグラムで共有します。

そして、その羽ばたく様子とを本のページが一つずつめくられていく状態を重ね合わせます。

そして、到着した土地に私たちが通り過ぎた証としてZineを残し、故郷に帰ります。

このZineのプロジェクトは、サバカンのメンバーが故郷を離れた際にZineに編集され、

その土地に残されます。

Sabbatical Companyの略称である”サバカン”は、

日本で販売されている鯖の缶詰の略称でもあります。

このプロジェクトでは、魚（鯖）が鳥に食べられて空を飛び、

そして海を越えるというストーリーをイメージし、

生活の時空とは異なる連鎖や循環を自らに確保しようという

私たちの想いが込められています。

In project # 07 "Sabbatical Birds", we are utilizing Instagram to post diverse imagery of birds, which we collect through out our travels.

This collection of photographs will be used to create a zine, which draws a link between the flapping of bird wings and the turning of book pages.

We feel a connection between our lifestyle of traveling independently to distant places in our work as artists,

but always returning home, and birds who fly for migration but eventually return to the nest again.

Each time one of our members leaves our home country to be active as an artist abroad,

a new zine of birds will be created as a trace of her time in that particular place,

and will be handed over to people they have met there before returning home.

Sabbatical Company is the abbreviation for "Sabakan," which is also the abbreviation for canned mackerel sold in Japan.

The project is inspired by the story we imagine that a fish (mackerel) that is eaten by a bird, flies through the sky, and then crosses the sea. This also represents our desire to secure a chain of events and cycles that are different from the time and space of our daily lives.
